|Speakers named for Triathlon Training Workshop|
A slate of speakers has now been named for a free Triathlon Training Workshop being offered on May 7 by SportsCare of Shawnee Mission Health System and the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
The workshop will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7 at the Life Dynamics Building, 9120 W. 75th St. During this workshop, experienced triathletes, doctors, and staff at SportsCare will teach participants how to train for a triathlon.
The primary speaker will be Dr. Dave Smith, a former SportsCare Co-Medical Director who currently works with Kansas State University students and student athletes. Smith is himself an experienced triathlete who has also done work in the community with Outreach Sports Medicine coverage. Sports Performance Trainer Scott Moody will also talk about the different areas of focus when training for a triathlon. Addressing the swimming portion of triathlon training, Kansas City Blazers Swim Team Coach Tom Herder will relate his experiences from competing across the country in various triathlons and in coaching swimmers in the metro area. Dave Clements of Wheeler's Cycle of Kansas City will lend his expertise relating to biking portions of a triathlon.
