|Learn about Veterans Honor Flights during local talk on May 19|
The Honor Flight Network provides opportunities for veterans to go to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in honor of their service and sacrifice for our nation and freedom. A free local opportunity to learn more about this program is planned in late May.
This Veterans Honor Flight Talk is being presented by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 19, at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., Overland Park. Those who attend the talk will hear the experiences of past honor flight participants and hear how any deserving veteran could be on the next flight. According to the Honor Flight Network's website, top priority is given to senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with other veterans who may be terminally ill.
Please RSVP for this free event by calling (913) 642-6410.
The JCPRD Activities catalog is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For updated program listings, visit the district's website at www.jcprd.com.
