|New Mental First Aid Wellness program offered for adults on May 22|
Mental First Aid is the name of this groundbreaking education program which is meant to help participants identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance abuse. Those who complete the 12-hour course can become certified as Mental Health First Aiders and learn a five-step action plan including the skills, resources, and knowledge to help an individual experiencing a crisis to connect with the appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care. This program will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday beginning May 22 at the Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee. The cost for four three-hour sessions is $50 per person.
