New Patron Appreciation Day event is May 3 at seven JCPRD facilities
POSTED: 04/09/2014

A new special event lets participants enjoy a number of discounts or free activities at seven Johnson County Park & Recreation District facilities on one day in early May.

This event is called Patron Appreciation Day and is meant as a counterpart to the agency's A Day in the Park event, which since 2010 has offered free outdoor activities as several parks on National Trails Day. This year's A Day in the Park event is scheduled for June 7 at Shawnee Mission and Kill Creek parks.
Patron Appreciation Day will take place on Saturday, May 3, and emphasizes indoor facilities and activities.

At the Heritage Park and Tomahawk Hills Golf Courses, participants can enjoy a free bucket of range balls when they purchase one round of golf. At the Mill Creek Activity Center, participants can enjoy free use of fitness equipment and the indoor walking track from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. At the New Century Fieldhouse, there will be free drop-in basketball, volleyball, and soccer from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., but participants need to be sure to bring their own sports calls to use. At the dome-covered Roeland Park Aquatic Center, free open swimming is offered from noon to 5 p.m. Inside the Roeland Park Community Center, free use of equipment in the center's fitness room is offered from 8 a.m. to noon, and coupons for 10 percent off room rentals booked for any 2014 date by June 6, will also be available. At the Ernie Miller Nature Center, this day's patrons can enjoy a 10 percent discount at the Nature's Corner Gift Shop.

For safety, use of fitness equipment at the Mill Creek Activity Center and the Roeland Park Community Center is limited to ages 14 and older and ages 14 to 16 must be supervised.

Heritage Park Golf Course is located at 16445 Lackman, Olathe, while the Tomahawk Hills Golf Course is located at 17501 Midland Dr., Olathe. The Mill Creek Activity Center is located at 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee. The New Century Fieldhouse is located at 551 New Century Parkway, near Gardner. The Roeland Park Aquatic Center and Community Center, are located at 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park. The Ernie Miller Nature Center is located at 909 N. Kansas 7 Highway, Olathe.
