Local Hershey Track & Field Meet offered for youth at SMN HS on April 28
POSTED: 04/04/2012
The Johnson County Park & Recreation District is a cosponsor of this event. The overall purpose of the local meet is to encourage young athletes to participate in track and field. The local meet will use a drop-in formula and is open to boys and girls ages six to 14 who are residents of Kansas. The top six finishers (ages nine through 14) in each event can advance to the state meet in Hutchinson on June 22 and 23. There, they will complete for placement in regional and ultimately the national meet held annually in Hershey, Penn. Participants can enter a maximum of one track and two field events, or one field and two track events. Ribbons will be sent to the top six finishers in this age group and six- to eight-year-olds will receive participation ribbons for their events.
