|Spring Break Outdoor Adventures Camp offered March 12-16|
“Winter is long but spring break camp is an opportunity for outdoor adventures once again," said Senior Park Naturalist Molly Postlewait. "While some families go out of state for a spring get away, some take advantage of the Ernie Miller Nature Center’s affordable programs. The nature park is the backdrop for outdoor fun and learning. As Spring begins to burst, we hike through the woods and along the creek. We see some familiar faces of kids from the summer, but Spring Break Camp is also great time for first-time campers to experience the excitement of outdoor exploration. “Campers meet new friends and try new activities. Seeing the animals up close, building forts, and playing ambush (hide and seek in teams) and fishing are always favorites.”
Spring Outdoor Adventures Camp will give participants a chance to explore wild areas, find forgotten trails, and learn secrets of survival. Many of the activities will take place at the Timber Ridge Adventure Center, and will include fishing, zip-lining, and team-building exercises. The last day of camp will include a cook out. Comfortable clothing, a backpack containing a sack lunch and a water bottle are required. Programmed activities begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. For the convenience of working parents, supervision will be provided from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. Children should bring a nutritious sack lunch, snacks, and a drink. Enrollment is limited to 13 campers. The cost for five seven-hour sessions is $130 per child for Johnson County Residents or $143 for nonresidents. Camp fees are nonrefundable.
