Four youth basketball clinics begin in early November
POSTED: 10/12/2011

The clinics include a Rookie Clinic for ages 5-7, Pro-Style Level I Clinic for ages 8-10, Pro-Style Level II Clinic for ages 10-12, and an All-Star Clinic for ages 12-14. All of the clinics take place at 68's Inside Sports Fitness Facility, 11301 W. 88th St., Overland Park, and all involve six 60-minute sessions at a cost of $100 per person for Johnson County residents or $110 for nonresidents. Perform a catalog search for the keyword "sports" to find these programs in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.

The Rookie Basketball Clinic is for boys and girls ages five through seven and will introduce participants to basic basketball skills including dribbling, passing, ball handling, pivots, and shooting. Drills are set in a noncompetitive atmosphere meant to allow students to concentrate on learning the skills correctly. This program will take place starting at 6 p.m. on Fridays beginning Nov. 4.

The Pro-Style Basketball Clinic Level I is for boys and girls ages eight through 10 and is for players with one to two years of experience. Fundamentals will be covered, with a focus on ball handling, passing, dribbling, shooting, and defense. Participants will improve on their own skills as well as learn life lessons that come with learning a sport. This program will take place starting at 5 p.m. on Sundays beginning Nov. 6.

The Pro-Style Basketball Clinic Level II is for boys and girls ages 10 through 12 and is for players with two to three years of experience. Fundamentals will be covered, with a focus on dribbling, passing, defense, and shooting. Participants will improve on their own skills as well as learning to play as a unit. This program will take place starting at 6 p.m. on Sundays, also beginning Nov. 6.

The All-Star Clinic is for boys and girls ages 12 through 14 with at least four years of basketball experience. Basic fundamentals will also be stressed in this program, and participants will play five-on-five as the clinic develops. This program will take place starting at 7 p.m. on Sundays, also beginning Nov. 6.
