|Sailing II class offered for adults starting July 12|
Participants will learn to sail a Sweet 16 sailboat. Sailing II will cover weather observation, two-sail rigging, twin-hull nomenclature, safety, trailering, and trailer maintenance. As a prerequisite, participants must have completed either an American Red Cross or JCPRD Sailing I class prior to enrollment. This class consists of two two-hour indoor lecture sessions and three three-hour outdoor water sessions. The indoor sessions will take place beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, and Thursday, July 14, at the John Barkley Visitors Center located at the entrance to Shawnee Mission Park at 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee. The water sessions will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday beginning July 16 at the Shawnee Mission Park Boat Ramp. The cost for 13 hours of instruction is $59 per person for Johnson County residents or $65 for nonresidents.
