Exploring the Masters art program for ages 4-7 begins June 6
POSTED: 05/18/2011
Exploring the Masters is for ages four through seven. Seven week-long sessions focus on a different artist for each week of four sessions. Participants will learn about the artists, discuss techniques used in their works, and then delve into their own palette of colors. Children will bring home one or two matted artworks each week. Perform a catalog search for the keyword "art" to find these programs in the JCPRD's online listings.

The first week will take place beginning June 6, when Pablo Picasso is the subject artist. Other weeks and artists are: June 13, Piet Mondrain; June 20, Vincent Van Gogh; June 27, Henri Matisse; July 11, Paul Cezanne; July 18, Claud Monet; and July 25, Pierre-Auguste Renior.

This program will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday each week at the Horizon Elementary School, 7210 Chouteau, Shawnee. The cost for four one-and-one-half-hour sessions is $65 per camper for Johnson County residents or $72 per camper for nonresidents. Preregistration is required.

The JCPRD's Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information about this program, call (913) 856-2439. To register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the District's website at
