Artists sought for Summertime Arts & Crafts Festival in Antioch Park on May 21
POSTED: 04/08/2011
The Summertime Arts & Craft show is a program of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District and is overseen by Fine Arts Coordinator Marilyn Lyons. This annual event is held in conjunction with the City of Merriam’s Turkey Creek Festival. The arts and craft show is one highlight of a fun-filled day which attracts people from all over the Kansas City metropolitan area. Other festival events include a pancake breakfast, parade, children’s activities, specialty food vendors and live music.

Invited are Fine artists and crafts persons of original works including, but not limited to, pottery and ceramics, floral arrangements, home decor, photography, textiles, woodworking, paintings, wearable art, and more. No commercial products, resale items, or flea market articles are allowed. Entry applications should include a clear photo of items to be exhibited as well as a separate photo showing the display setup. Information packets containing vendor space assignments, maps, set up instructions, etc. will be mailed out the week of May 9.

The juried show will take place on the day of the event, when the juror will choose a booth they feel is the best among all those listed as fine art. In addition, a piece of art in that booth will be selected as the best choice to win an award. First, second and third prizes will be awarded.

The entry fee is $65 for a 12-by-12 foot lawn space. There is a $10 late fee for registrations received after May 2 and no registrations will be accepted after May 11. Exhibitors are responsible for providing their own tables, chairs, and display surfaces. Electricity is not available. This is an outdoor event - come prepared for inclement weather. The Turkey Creek Festival Committee reserves the right to alter or cancel the event.
