|Weekly maintenance closures begin again at off-leash areas starting March 15|
Beginning in March 15, a regular temporary closure will be scheduled from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. every Tuesday through Nov. 15 for routine maintenance work at both parks. Signs have will posted at the off-leash areas to notify the public of the upcoming closures, which are intended to allow for a higher level of maintenance to preserve the areas for future use and enjoyment without compromising dog, patron, or staff safety. The closures will be posted at the dog off-leash area entry gates. Trespassing is prohibited when the gates area locked.
The weekly closures during the growing season were initiated at Shawnee Mission Park in March 2008 and at Heritage Park in July 2010.
Both parks are owned and operated by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District. Heritage Park is located at 1600 Pflumm Road, Olathe, while Shawnee Mission Park is located at 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee and Lenexa. Regular park hours are 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily through Nov. 1.
