St. Patrick's Day-themed 50 Plus day trip to local Irish community set for March 15
POSTED: 02/25/2011

We're All Irish for the Day is the name of the trip will take place on Tuesday, March 15. A guide portraying Margaret Tobin Brown, more commonly known as "the Unsinkable Molly Brown," will lead participants on this trip. Along the way. she'll talk about her rise up the social ladder, the gold rush days, and the sinking of the Titanic. Participants will tour the historic Jansen Place neighborhood where successful families, including the Bishops, built grand mansions. Day trippers will swing by Brown's Deli, the oldest Irish establishment in the city, which has been owned by the same family since 1887, After lunch, participants will visit the Old St. Pat's Church, where a tour with the parish priest will bring the heart of the Irish community to life. The day wraps up at Sheehan's Irish Imports, where tea will be brewing just for the group! Perform a catalog search for the keywords “day trip” to find these programs in the JCPRD’s Activities Catalog and online listings at www.jcprd.com.

This trip will leave at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, from Antioch Park 6501 Antioch, Merriam, and return at approximately 4 p.m. that day. The cost is $62 per person and includes lunch at Brown's Deli.
