New Aqua School home school swim classes offered in early December
POSTED: 11/17/2010

The classes are: Learn to Swim, Learn to Dive, and Precompetitive Swim. All three classes are for ages five and older and offer classes at 10 a.m. Tuesday beginning Dec. 7 at the Roeland Park Aquatics Center, 4843 Rosewood, Roeland Park. For any of these classes, the cost for eight 60-minute sessions is $50 for Johnson County residents or $55 for nonresidents. Perform a catalog search for the keywords "aqua school" to find these programs in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.

Aqua School Learn to Swim is for the student who has not experienced the joy of swimming. Students will be divided into skill ability levels. Skills development will progress from basic movement, breathe control, and floating, to learning and refining different swimming strokes.

Aqua School Learn to Dive is for the child who likes to flip and twist but not flop. Divers will learn basic body positions for head-first entries into the water from the deck and diving board.

Aqua School Precompetitive Swim is for the child who has the need for speed while swimming. Participants will focus on skills development, speed, and endurance while learning and developing four competitive strokes - butterfly, backstroke, breastroke, and freestyle - for competition.

The JCPRD's Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, see the District's website at www.jcprd.com.
