Two day-long Mad Science® programs for youth set for Oct. 28 & 29
POSTED: 10/06/2010

The programs are Mad Science® Science of Sport on Thursday, Oct. 28, and the Mad Science® Spooktacular Halloween Convention on Friday, Oct. 29. Both programs at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood, Roeland Park. The cost for either seven and one-half-hour session is $72 per person for Johnson County residents or $79 per person for nonresidents. Young scientists should bring a sack lunch and a bottle of water. Perform a catalog search for the keyword "science" to find these programs in the JCPRD's Activities catalog and online listings.

In Mad Science® Science of Sport, youth will learn about how science and sport work together. Participants will learn how physics is a part of baseball, football, and even acrobatics and explore energy transfer and gravity forces. This program will take place beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28.

Mad Science® Spooktacular Halloween Convention will challenge participants' imaginations with favorite science activities. These include the Spectacular Mad Science Show, Mad-Cap Relay Races, Hoverboard rides, multiple hands-on science topics, and great take-home science experiments. This program will take place beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29.

The JCPRD's Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the District's website at www.jcprd.com.
