|Off the Blocks swimming programs begin Sept. 7 & 9|
The program is called Off the Blocks and is for ages six and older. Program instructors will evaluate participant's strokes and offer suggestions to improve techniques, strokes, and overall race times. Each month-long program will conclude with a mock swim meet. Swimmers should bring their caps and goggles and be prepared for challenging workouts. Successful completion of a Level 4 swimming class is a prerequisite for this program. This program is offered in two formats. One involves eight 60-minute sessions at the cost of $45 for Johnson County residents or $50 for nonresidents. A class in this format is offered at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday beginning Sept. 7. A second format involves four 60-minute sessions at a cost of $23 for Johnson County residents or $25 for nonresidents. Classes in this format are offered at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, beginning Sept. 7 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, beginning Sept. 9. All classes take place at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, 12701 W. 67th, Shawnee.
