Two new home school art classes offered beginning in early September

The classes are Basic Beginning Art for students in kindergarten through third grade, and Basic Beginning Painting for students in grades four through six. Both classes will take place at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood, Roeland Park. Perform a catalog search for the keywords "home school art" to find these programs in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.

Basic Beginning Art will introduce students to art, including everything from colors, shapes, lights, and shadows. Some basic color mixing and painting will be involved. This class will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday beginning Sept. 7.

Basic Beginning Painting will cover different medium and aspects of art. Session two will start the painting process from developing a color wheel to putting paint to paper. This class will take place at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday beginning Sept. 1.

The cost for either class for six 60-minute sessions is $37 per person for Johnson County residents or $41 per person for nonresidents. Supply lists are available by calling (913) 826-3163.
