New Adventures in Geocaching program is July 31 at Antioch Park
POSTED: 07/09/2010
Adventures in Geocaching is the name of the program, which is for all ages. Participants will learn in a fun and relaxed atmosphere how to use GPS, otherwise known as Global Positioning Systems, that will track a cache within six to 20 feet. So what's a cache? Think of it as a treasure or an item on a modern day scavenger hunt. GPS units will be provided for this program. Perform a catalog search for the keyword "geocaching" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.

This program will take place beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 31 at Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam. The cost for one two-hour cache hunt is $8 per person for Johnson County residents or $9 per person for nonresidents or $12 per family of four or $13 per nonresident family of four. Another offering of this program is scheduled for Aug. 14 at Shawnee Mission Park.

The JCPRD's Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, see the District's website at
