Two opportunities to volunteer with Heartland Habitat for Humanity offered through JCPRD
POSTED: 03/24/2010

Build with Heartland Habitat for Humanity and ReStore with Heartland Habitat for Humanity are the names of the events, which will both take place on Saturday, April 17 in celebration of National Volunteer Week. Both events are for ages 16 and older and are great opportunities for anyone looking for volunteer hours for school or for anyone who wants to give back to the community. Participation in the events is free, but requires an RSVP by April 9 by calling (913) 826-3160. Perform a catalog search for the keywords "special event" to find these programs in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.

Build with Heartland Habitat for Humanity is an opportunity to join a volunteer team and help with the actual building of a house. Construction will have already begun and the JCPRD team will pick up where the last team left off. This eight-hour event is scheduled to begin at 8 a .m. at a site yet to be announced. This event is dependent on the weather and on a build site opportunity. For build site location, call (913) 826-3160 closer to the date. Even if construction is not for you, you can still help by being a "lunch angel" and donating lunch for all of the volunteers.

ReStore with Heartland Habitat for Humanity is an opportunity to volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore Warehouse at 55th and Kansas Avenue in Kansas City, Kan. Volunteers will meet at the warehouse where they will sort and price donations, among other activities. This event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will go on rain or shine.

The JCPRD's ACTIVITIES catalog is available for pick-up at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information and updated program listings, see the District's website at www.jcprd.com.
