Learn Spanish through Leap List program for 50 Plus beginning Nov. 7 or 18
POSTED: 10/17/2013
Speaking Spanish is the latest skill to be covered through a new program being offered by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Leap List is the name of the program, which is meant to put a new twist on the "bucket lists" we've all heard of. These programs present an opportunity to "leap into memories" and participate in activities you've always wanted to try. These are considered introductory programs to see if the activities are something participants want to pursue further. Other Leap List activities this fall have included horseback riding lessons in September and archery lessons in October.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then enrichment & special interests. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “memories.”

Spanish Lessons are offered twice at two different locations. One class begins at 1 p.m. Thursday starting Nov. 7 at the Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee, while the other begins at 1 p.m. Monday starting Nov. 18 at Grace Methodist, 11485 Ridgeview Road, Olathe. The cost for three one-hour lessons is $39 per person for Johnson County residents or $43 for person for nonresidents.

While the JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District’s Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.

The JCPRD Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the district’s website at
