|Second Public hayride offered on Nov. 3 at Oak Ridge Parklands at Shawnee Mission Park|
The second of two public hayrides being offered by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District this fall will take place in early November.
In addition to hayrides for organized groups, the JCPRD also offers opportunities for individuals and small groups to enjoy the crisp autumn air from a tractor-drawn haywagon without having to worry about reaching minimum numbers or placing a deposit.
The second and last Public Hayride of 2013 will take place on Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Oak Ridge Parklands at Shawnee Mission Park. This ride will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Parklands, 7460 Ogg Road. The cost is $6 per person for a one-hour ride followed by a one-hour campfire. Preregistration is required. Registrations are also being taken for organized group hayrides, which can be scheduled for dates between Sept. 14 and Nov. 24. These hayrides take place seven days a week at Oak Ridge and on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only at Heritage Park, 16050 Pflumm Road, Olathe. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance of the date of the hayride. Like the public hayrides, these are tractor-drawn, last approximately 60 minutes, and are followed by a 60-minute campfire. The cost is $6 per person or a minimum of $65 when there are 10 riders or less. There is a maximum of 25 people per wagon and one adult per 10 children is required.
