|Fun and Fitness in the Park offered for youth starting Sept. 1|
This six-week nutrition and activity program is for ages eight to 11 and is led by a registered dietician through the Healthy Kids University program and a JCPRD program educator.
The program is meant to help kids get active and develop healthy habits they can maintain for the rest of their lives. Each week will highlight different topics in physical fitness and nutrition using curriculum developed by the Nutrition Department and Children's Mercy Hospital. Each class is 90 minutes long and will include a physical activity designed to get kids moving and being active. After a short break, a short nutrition-related activity is offered. This program will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday beginning Sept. 1 at Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam. The cost for seven 90-minute sessions is $75 for Johnson County residents or $83 for nonresidents.
