|Pickleball Tournament is Oct. 5 at Okun Fieldhouse|
Sept. 27 is the deadline for a Pickleball Tournament being presented in early October by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
This event will take place beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Okun Fieldhouse, located within the Mid-America West Sports Complex at 20200 Johnson Drive, Shawnee. This tournaments comes with a five-game guarantee and players are responsible for refereeing their own games.
Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badminton, and table tennis played on a court with two players per side who use a wiffleball and paddles. To enter, players must be 50 by the registration deadline. Divisional awards will be presented for men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “pickleball.” Friday, Sept. 27, is the registration deadline for this program. Another 50 Plus pickleball tournament is scheduled for Nov. 22 at the Jewish Community Center, 5801 W. 115th St., Overland Park. Nov. 15 will be the deadline for that tournament.
