|Sixth Annual Paws in the Park is June 13 at Shawnee Mission Park Beach|
This year's event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the regular Shawnee Mission Park Beach, not at the dog beach in the park's Off-Leash Area. Shawnee Mission Park's main entrance is located at 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee, and the beach is located on Beach Road on the northeast side of the lake.
This fun-filled and family-oriented event gives interested parties an opportunity to enjoy a day at the beach with their pooch. Last's year's event drew more than 400 people and nearly 100 dogs. As it did last year, the event will also include a dog walk on the trail within the park and an opportunity to swim with your dog at the beach.
Other planned activities include a number of dog-related demonstrations, vendor booths featuring a variety of dog-related items, representatives of area animal rescue groups, and much more. Search for the keywords "dog festival" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.
A portion of the proceeds from Paws in the Park will be donated to an area rescue group. The entry cost for this four-hour event is $15 per dog and includes the walk and a T-shirt.
