New Bike to the beach program for ages 8 to 12 begins June 11
POSTED: 05/20/2009

This program is for ages eight to 12. Participants will meet at Shelter 6 in Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee and Lenexa, where they will eat a lunch they pack before taking off for an easy ride along the Mill Creek Streamway Park's Gary L. Haller Trail. The group will loop back up the lake road to Shawnee Mission Park Beach for an afternoon swim. Both mountain and road bikes are OK for these trails. Cyclists must be able to ride with confidence and control over hilly terrain and wear a regulation cycling helmet, tennis shoes, and shirts over their swim wear. Perform a catalog search for the keyword "fitness" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.

This program will take place beginning at 11:30 a.m. Thursday beginning June 11. The cost for four three-hour sessions is $50 per person for Johnson County residents or $55 per person for nonresidents. Participants should bring a bike lock and a full water bottle that can be transported hands free.

The JCPRD's ACTIVITIES catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pick-up at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, see the District's website at www.jcprd.com.
