|New Adult/Child Fishing Clinic is May 16 at Shawnee Mission Park Shelter #12|
This Adult/Child Fishing Clinic will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 16 at Shelter #12 near the swimming beach at Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee and Lenexa. This event is for ages eight to 14 with a parent or guardian. During this intergenerational program, the first hour will involve a clinic for adults covering basic fishing techniques, fish identification, equipment, and knot tying. The remainder of the event will give children a chance to fish with their parent or guardian. Fishing equipment and bait will be provided. The cost for one three-hour event is $5 per person for Johnson County residents or $6 per person for nonresidents. This program is partially funded through a grant from the National Recreation and Park Association. Participation is limited to 30 people and preregistration is required.
