|First of six School Day Out Art Fun programs is Sept. 30 at RPCC|
Helping parents provide fun and engaging ways to occupy their student's mind and hands on no school days is the aim of a new program being offered by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
The program is called School Day Out Art Fun and is for ages five through 12. On a total of seven days through late December, this program will host students at the Roeland Park Community Center for fun activities in a safe, supervised environment. On all but one of these dates, participants will even get to swim at the dome-covered Roeland Park Aquatic Center across the parking lot in the afternoon.
Each School Day Out Art Fun will take place at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood, Roeland Park. Sessions begin at 9 a.m. and run through 5 p.m., although for the benefit of working parents, additional supervision will be provided from 8 to 9 a.m. and from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
Be sure to bring a water bottle and sack lunch daily, as well as a swimsuit and towel for every session except the one on Oct. 25. To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under youth and then under childcare. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “childcare.”
The first session will take place on Sept. 30. Other one-day sessions will follow on Oct. 11, Oct. 24, Oct. 25 (no swimming), and Dec. 20. The cost for any of these sessions is $31 per child for Johnson County residents or $35 per child for nonresidents. In addition a two-day session will be offered on Dec. 27 and 28. The cost for this two-day session is $62 per child for Johnson County residents or $70 per child for nonresidents.
The JCPRD’s Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, see the District’s website at www.jcprd.com.
