|The Theatre in the Park Announces 40th Anniversary Season|
The Theatre in the Park is proud to announce its 40th Anniversary season for the summer of 2009. The anniversary celebration kicks off with the classic Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, followed by the smash hit Disney High School Musical I. The Wedding Singer provides wonderful comedy and 80s inspired music as the third installment of the season. And, putting the final touches on the season is The Wizard of Oz, which will be celebrating an anniversary of its own … 70 years. The 40th Anniversary is commemorated with this “Hooray for Hollywood” season, as all the selections were movies before they were stage productions.
“It’s a great combination of shows. We are very excited about the upcoming season! We have a little bit of everything to represent the past four decades,” explains Melissa Wyckoff, Executive Producer. “We have a wonderful classic show, a modern musical, and a selection that’s reminiscent of the 80s. Plus, we couldn’t let this Ruby Anniversary pass without bringing out the ruby slippers!”
Director’s applications are now being accepted. Deadline for submission is October 13, 2008. For the list of application criteria, please visit theatreinthepark.org. Auditions for the 2009 line-up will be in late February or early March. Continue to check the website for further details.
