The Theatre in the Park Presents Footloose
POSTED: 06/26/2002

The Theatre in the Park's second production of its 33rd season is Footloose, directed by Philip Kinen.
This production, which is sponsored by KU Med West, is an adaptation of the famous movie and tells the story of Ren, who moves with his mother from Chicago to a small farming town. While Ren expects the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school, what he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local laws, including a ban on dancing ordered by the town preacher. When the preacher's rebellious daughter sets her cap for Ren, her roughneck boyfriend sets out to destroy Ren's reputation. With an Oscar-nominated score, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people and guiding them with an open mind.
Shows will be presented June 28-30 and July 5-7. Gates for each show open at 6:30 p.m. and curtain time is 8:30 p.m. Admission prices are $5 for adults, $3 for children four to12, and children three and under are free. For more information, visit the Theatre's website at http://www.theatreinthepark.org/ or call the Theatre office at (913) 631-7050.
