|The Theatre in the Park Presents Footloose|
This production, which is sponsored by KU Med West, is an adaptation of the famous movie and tells the story of Ren, who moves with his mother from Chicago to a small farming town. While Ren expects the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school, what he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local laws, including a ban on dancing ordered by the town preacher. When the preacher's rebellious daughter sets her cap for Ren, her roughneck boyfriend sets out to destroy Ren's reputation. With an Oscar-nominated score, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people and guiding them with an open mind.
