|Art Fest seeks Johnson County artists for annual exhibit|
Entries are now being accepted for Art Fest 2008, an exhibit which will showcase Johnson County artists at the Ernie Miller Nature Center from Nov. 2-23. The entry deadline for the fourth annual exhibition is Aug. 1.
Sponsored by Columbian Bank and the Johnson County Park and Recreation District, Art Fest is open to previously juried artists currently residing in Johnson County who are 21 years of age or older. The exhibition is limited to original, wall-mounted art executed within the past two years.
For an entry fee of $20 artists may submit up to three works of art for consideration. Only one piece of art per artist may be selected for the exhibition.

Exhibiting artists will be competing for $5,500 in prizes and awards. There will be three $1,000 cash prizes awarded and an additional $2,500 in purchase awards for art selected for permanent display in various Johnson County Park and Recreation District facilities.
Bruce Hartman, Director of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art at the Johnson County Community College, will serve as juror for the exhibit. The Art Fest Organizing Committee consists of Randy Knight, A. J. LoScalzo, Alberta McGrath, and Nancy Wallerstein.
All of the pieces on display at Art Fest will be available for purchase. There will be no admission charge to the exhibit which will be open for public viewing during the Nature Center’s regular hours: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12:30 pm. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. The exhibit will be closed on Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, November 11.
