|Eleventh Annual Kids' Fishing Rodeo for ages 12 and under is June 21 At Shawnee Mission Park|
The eleventh Annual Kids Fishing Rodeo at Shawnee Mission Park Lake, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee, will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21.
This event is free to the public and is being presented by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District and Crappie USA Inc. Kids ages 12 and under are invited to bring their mom and dad and participate.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at Shelter No. 3, near the Shawnee Mission Park Marina. The first 100 kids will receive a gift pack containing coupons and fishing supplies and qualify for a national drawing for a $5,000 scholarship. Since the event began here, two participants in the local event have won scholarships. Fishing will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Prizes will be presented for the highest total accumulative length of all fish caught and for big fish. Participants should bring their own bait and tackle.
Please remember length limits do apply, so please check park regulations. Also, anglers ages 16 to 64 will need the applicable Kansas and JCPRD fishing permits.
