|Fourth Annual KidFest is June 21 at Antioch Park|
Now it its fourth year, the KidFest event will be back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 21. This event is being presented by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District's Children's Service's Department and will take place at Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam.
This event was first presented in 2005 as part of the District's year-long 50th anniversary celebration and was so successful the Children's Services Department made it a regular event.
Planned for this year's four-hour event is a carnival-like atmosphere featuring a variety of activity booths, including face and hair painting, ring and bean-bag tosses, tile painting, bead jewelry making, a cake walk, crown decorating, and more. These booths will be located near the Dodgetown playground and near Antioch Park's administration buildings and will be manned by staff from Children's Services' 25 afterschool and four preschool programs.
Also planned are: moon walks, a Build-It Workshop sponsored by Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse, a fire truck from the City of Merriam, a concession area, and more.
Admission will be $4 for a child's wristband and adults are $2 or free with a canned food donation. Kids under two are free. Advance registration is not required for this event.
