|Former Director Honored with ASPA Award|
Former Johnson County Park and Recreation District District Director Gary L. Haller was recently honored with the L. P. Cookingham Award for Outstanding Contributions to Public Administration:
This is the highest award given by the Kansas City Chapter of the American Society of Public Administrators. The award was presented during the local chapter's annual awards banquet which took place on May 22 at the Swope Memorial Golf Course, located in kansas City's Swope Park.
The L. P. Cookingham Award, which is named for a former Kansas City, Mo., city manager, is presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to public administration over an extended period of time.
Gary was nominated for the award by Steve Lampone, Chief of Operations for KCMO Parks & Boulevards. The award was presented by Terry Dopson, Director of KCMO Parks & Boulevards.
Haller served as director of the JCPRD from 1974 until he retired in July of 2001.
