|Make great memories through new Leap List program for 50 Plus|
Leap into fun memories with a new program being offered by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
Leap List is the name of the program, which is meant to put a new twist on the "bucket lists" we've all heard of. These programs present an opportunity to commit and participate in activities you've always wanted to try.
Planned activities will include Horseback Riding lessons, Archery Lessons, and Spanish Lessons, which will take place during separate sessions. Transportation to offsite locations are included with the classes.
First up are Horseback Riding Lessons through Painted M Ranch in Olathe. Two different times and pickup locations are offered. One begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday starting Sept. 5 at the Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee, while the other begins at 10 a.m. Monday starting Sept. 9 at Grace Methodist, 11485 Ridgeview Road, Olathe. The cost for five two-hour lessons is $275 per person for Johnson County residents or $303 for person for nonresidents.
Archery lessons will be offered through the Kansas State Archery Association at an indoor location in Olathe beginning Oct. 10 and 14. The cost for four one-hour lessons is $23 for Johnson County residents or $25 for nonresidents. Spanish lessons will be offered beginning Nov. 7 at the Mill Creek Activity Center and Nov. 18 at Grace Methodist. The cost for three one-hour lessons is $39 for Johnson County residents or $43 for nonresidents.
To find these programs in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then enrichment & special interests. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “memories.”
While the JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District’s Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.
The JCPRD Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the district’s website at www.jcprd.com.
