|Three Exercise Classes Offered For 50 Plus at Olathe Center Beginning Oct. 15 & 16|
Three different exercise classes are being offered in mid October at the Olathe 50 Plus Center by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
The programs are: Body Sculpting, Core Works, and Interval Training. All three take place at the Olathe 50 Plus Center, 311 E. Park, Suite A, and all three have classes starting Oct. 15 or 16. Search for the keyword "exercise" to find these programs in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.
Body Sculpting focuses on toning and stretching opposing muscles. The program's warm up will work on four muscle groups, while the cool-down session will leave participants feeling relaxed and refreshed. This program will meet at noon Tuesday and Thursday beginning Oct. 16. Class cost for 11 30-minute sessions is $19 per person for Johnson County residents or $21 for nonresidents.
Core Works is an introductory class meant to maintain and improve muscle elasticity, posture, range of motion, and coordination while reducing back pain. These exercises are performed on the floor using yoga and Pilates movements. This class meets at 10 a.m. Monday and Wednesday beginning Oct. 15. Class cost for 10 50-minute sessions is $35 per person for Johnson County residents or $39 for nonresidents.
Interval Training provides a total body workout which mixes short segments or cardio and strength training. The goal is improving cardiovascular fitness, toning up, and feeling great!. This program will meet at 9 a.m. Monday and Wednesday beginning Oct. 15. Class cost for 15 50-minute sessions is $53 per person for Johnson County residents or $58 for nonresidents.
While the JCPRD's 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District's Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.
