Mad Science® Birds & Beasts No-School Day of Fun for Ages 7-12 is Oct. 12
POSTED: 09/19/2007

Youth can turn a no-school day into a day of fun by attending a Mad Science® program for youth being offered on Oct, 12 by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.

This program is for ages seven to 12 and is called Mad Science® Birds & Beasts. Participants will walk on the wild side to explore owls, birds, and all kinds of bugs. The program will include owl pellet dissection, snacktivities, and fun take-homes. Search for the keyword "science" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.

Mad Science® Birds & Beasts will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood, Roeland Park. Children can be dropped off between 8:30 and 9 a.m. and must be picked up between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Participants should bring sack lunch and a drink. The cost for one six-and one-half hour session is $35 per person for Johnson County residents or $39 per person for nonresidents. Preregistration by Oct. 10 is required and this program is expected to fill quickly.

A second Mad Science® no-school day of fun will take place on Oct. 25 and will have the theme "machine mania." This program is also for ages seven through 12 and will involve the same hours and costs as above.

The JCPRD's ACTIVITIES catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pick-up at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the District's website at www.jcprd.com
