JCPRD Golf Courses raise More Than $550 During First-Ever Patriot Golf Day on Sept. 1
POSTED: 09/12/2007
The Johnson County Park and Recreation District's two public golf courses raised more than $550 during the first-ever Patriot Golf Day on Sept. 1.

Patriot Golf Day was new in 2007 and enlisted the help of public and private golf facilities across the country to raise funds which will go to The Fallen Heroes Foundation, which awards scholarships to children of military members who were either seriously disabled or lost their lives while in combat in Afghanistan or Iraq. At JCPRD facilities, the funds were raised by asking golfers to consider a donation of $1 per greens fee.

Collections totaled $384 at the Heritage Park Golf Course, 16000 Pflumm Road, Olathe, while another $190 was collected at the Tomahawk Hills Golf Course, 17501 Midland Drive, Shawnee.

The program was a joint initiative of PGA of America and the United States Golf Association and is expected to become an annual event. For more about Patriot Golf Day, visit
