|Lifeguard Training offered Starting Oct. 1 & 7 at Two Locations|
Lifeguard training classes for ages 15 and older are being offered by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District beginning in early October at two times and locations.
Participants will learn skills required for performing water rescues in life-threatening situations. This class is required for most lifeguard jobs. Participants must be capable of demonstrating good skill performances of ALL swimmer level requirements before enrolling. CPR and First Aid training is included in the class. Attendance at all eight sessions is mandatory. Search for the keywords "water safety" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.
One program is offered at 6 p.m. Monday beginning Oct. 1 at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, 12701 W. 67th, Shawnee. This program will involve four eight four-hour sessions. A second program is offered at 2 p.m. Sunday beginning Oct. 7 at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center, 4843 Rosewood, Roeland Park. This program will involve six six-hour sessions. The cost for either class is $130 for Johnson County residents or $143 for nonresidents.
