|New 1950's Sock Hop Dance for 50 Plus is Aug. 14|
The dance sensation which swept the nation in the 1950s is coming back to Johnson County for a special event being planned by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District is planning a good old-fashioned celebration.
A 1950s Sock Hop will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 14, and will feature live music from KC Swing. Participants are invited to dress in their best threads, including poodle skirts, white T-shirts, and rolled-up jeans. Cool refreshments and a fun atmosphere will also be part of this event. This event will take place at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood, Roeland Park, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The cost for this two-hour event is $5 per person at the door or $6 at the door. To make reservations for this program, call (913) 236-4343.
