New Introductory Fencing Camp Offered For Youth Beginning Aug. 6
POSTED: 07/11/2007
Youth ages seven to 13 who would like an introduction to Fencing, the Olympic sport of sword fighting, are invited to attend a new introductory camp being offered by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.

Fencing Camp Introduction is taught by an internationally-trained coach with Olympic experience and excellent youth-training skills. Fencing emphasizes strategy over size and sportsmanship over glory. Participants should wear sweatpants and sneakers. Search for the keywords "fencing camp" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.

Camp sessions are scheduled to begin on Aug. 6 and will meet at 9 a.m. daily through Aug. 10 at the Heartland Fencing Academy, 8214 Marshall Drive, Lenexa.. The cost for five three-and-one-half-hour sessions is $125 per person for Johnson County residents or $138 for nonresidents. All equipment is provided.

For more information, visit or call (913) 636-3769. The JCPRD's ACTIVITIES catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pick-up at all Johnson County Library branches.
