|New Introductory Fencing Camp Offered For Youth Beginning Aug. 6|
Youth ages seven to 13 who would like an introduction to Fencing, the Olympic sport of sword fighting, are invited to attend a new introductory camp being offered by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
Fencing Camp Introduction is taught by an internationally-trained coach with Olympic experience and excellent youth-training skills. Fencing emphasizes strategy over size and sportsmanship over glory. Participants should wear sweatpants and sneakers. Camp sessions are scheduled to begin on Aug. 6 and will meet at 9 a.m. daily through Aug. 10 at the Heartland Fencing Academy, 8214 Marshall Drive, Lenexa.. The cost for five three-and-one-half-hour sessions is $125 per person for Johnson County residents or $138 for nonresidents. All equipment is provided.
