|Mad Science® Summer Camp for Ages 7-12 is July 30-Aug. 3 at Roeland Park Community Center|
A variety of fun subjects will be covered during a week-long Mad Science® summer camp program for youth being offered beginning in late July by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
This program is for ages seven to 12. The full name of the camp is: Mad Science® Birds & Beasts, Crazy Chemistry, Junior Engineers, Machine Mania, and Shutterbugs. Each of the five topics mentioned in the camp's name will be the subject of a day's activities. Participants will walk on the wild side for Birds & Beasts to explore owls, birds, and all kinds of bugs. Crazy Chemistry is an incredibly fun lab where campers will mix, mush, and brew chemicals for fantastic take-homes. In Junior Engineers, participants will investigate arches and bridges, build a geodesic dome, and learn about structures. Machine Mania will cover wedges, levers, inclined planes, and show just how useful simple machines can be. In Shutterbugs, participants will learn of a camera and their eyes work as an introduction to photography.
