Grandparents can have fun with the grandkids during new Watercolor Workshops
POSTED: 08/07/2013
Have fun and paint a watercolor work of art with your grandchild, during a new intergenerational program being offered by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Watercolor Workshops is the name of the program, which is for ages 50 plus and a grandchild ages seven to 11. No art experience is necessary in this fun beginner program. A number of themes will be available and participants can pick their favorite or all of them. To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then under fine & performing arts. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “art.”

This program will meet at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., Overland Park. The cost for one 60-minute session is $15 per grandparent and grandchild for Johnson County residents or $16 per grandparent and grandchild for nonresidents. The fee for additional grandchildren is $7. For a simple supply list, call (913) 642-6410.

Addition Watercolor Workshops are scheduled at MRCC on 10/2, 11/6, and 12/4.

The JCPRD Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the district’s website at
