|A Woman's Place is in the Woods! New Women's Outdoor Experience Offered at Timber Ridge Adventure Center|
Nature activities, camping, and outdoor skills led by women for women is the mission of a new program being presented by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District at the new TimberRidge Adventure Center.
Women's Outdoor Experience is a one and one-half day program for ages 18 and up beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 5. For 24 hours, participants will have the opportunity to pamper themselves with personal discovery in a unique natural setting. Participants can choose their level of activity from leisurely to strenuous doing such things as hiking, canoeing, wildflower walks, or just quiet time in the great outdoors. Other scheduled activities include cook and feasting on campfire cuisine and spending the night under the stars. Opportunities to experience portions of TimberRidge's 22-element adventure course will also be offered.
Upon enrollment, participants will receive a detailed letter with a schedule of activities. Tents, cooking equipment, three meals and snacks will be provided. Participants should bring sleeping bags and personal gear. Camp will be broken at mid-morning Sunday. The cost per person is $55 for Johnson County residents or $61 for nonresidents. Preregistration is required.
Timber Ridge is located at 12300 South Homestead Lane, Olathe, accessible via an entrance which is separate from and south of the main entrance to the new Kill Creek Regional Park.
