Did You Know: The Kansas City Corporate Challenge is the oldest corporate games of its kind in the nation?
Corporate competitive events such as the Kansas City Corporate Challenge, popular in many cities throughout the United States, began here. In 1979, in a local response to support the United States boycott of the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, Russia, a group of local business executives worked with the Johnson County Park and Recreation District and the Jackson County, Missouri, Parks and Recreation Department, to stage the games. The games are now coordinated solely by the District and continue to grow and are the largest corporate games in the United States. During the annual games more than 200 local private and public sector employers are represented by more than 22,000 amateur athletes in the spirit of friendly competition and bragging rights.
