“Mary Poppins” (Rated G) at The Theatre in the Park

Everyone’s favorite practically perfect nanny takes the stage in this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical adventure! Grab a blanket or chair and a picnic dinner and share an evening under the stars with family and friends! Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for youth (ages 4-10), and children 3 and under are free. The box office opens at 6:00, gates open at 6:30, and curtain is at 8:30. Visit the theatre’s website at theatreinthepark.org for more details.

Mid-Summer’s Night Cache at Shawnee Mission Park

Looking for a cool way to keep the kids busy this summer? This modern day scavenger hunt is a great way to get out of the house and get moving. Each family is loaned a GPS device and given instructions on how to find the caches hidden around the Small Lakes area of Shawnee Mission Park. Receive a prize after finding the caches, then enjoy grilled hotdogs and S`mores. Participants registering as a family will be loaned one GPS unit per family. Those registering as individuals will each receive a GPS unit to use. Meet at Shelter #2. This two-hour session is just $11 ($13 for nonresident) per person, or $29 ($32 nonresident) for a family (up to four.) Register today by conducting a barcode search for 34236 via our Online Registration Site. Please preregister before July 25.

The Great American Family Campout at Shawnee Mission Park

Come join us for the 9th annual Great American Family Campout. Whether you are an experienced camper or just looking for an activity to share with your family, this is your opportunity to sleep under the stars in the safety of the largest park in Johnson County. The package includes passes to Shawnee Mission Park Beach, pedal boat rental and tickets to The Theatre in the Park’s production of “Mary Poppins.” As a special bonus you will receive early admittance to the shows. Campers will need to bring their own camping equipment (tents, sleeping bags, etc.). Saturday evening dinner is not provided. Bagels, fruit, juice, and milk will be provided Sunday morning. This family-friendly event is just $30 for a family of up to 4, $10 for individuals, and three and under are free. Register today by going to our Activities page and then click on the “Register for Activities” button and do a barcode search for 34387 for family registration, 34388 for individual registration and 34389 for three and under registration. Johnson County Sailing Society - Come Sail with Us! at Shawnee Mission Park Lake

All sailors and sailing enthusiasts are warmly welcome to join members of the Johnson County Sailing Society for lunch along with the graduates of their Sailing I class. Bring your sack lunch, and afterwards you will have an opportunity to sail a variety of vessels while participating in water activities like mock races or a sailing scavenger hunt. If you are interested in watching or participating in the Sailing Society’s races, please contact Nick Hockman for more information.

OMC Women’s Triathlon & Duathlon Triathlon Clinic at Kill Creek Park
