The July 4th Splash 4 Cash event at Roeland Park Aquatic Center

Our Splash 4 Cash at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center is an event were we place about $100 in change in different areas of the center's main pool for three different age groups. Each age group will have an opportunity to dive in and collect as many coins as possible. Contact between participants will be strictly prohibited. Age groups will be: toddlers to six years old, seven to nine year-olds, and ten to 12 years old. Normal RPAC admission costs will apply and admission for ages two and under is free. Animal Clues: Ernie Miller Amphitheater Program

Learn how to identify tracks, scent, and other animal signs and figure out what the animals were doing long after they are gone. Learn how to "walk like the animals." A number of different animals furs will be available to touch and a special animal guest will also be present. 25th Annual Shawnee Mission Triathlon

The 25th Annual Shawnee Mission Triathlon regular course consists of a .62 mile swim, followed by an 18 mile bike, and a 4.5 mile run in Shawnee Mission Park. The short course consists of a .31 mile swim, followed by a 9 mile bike, and a 2.4 mile run. Team categories include: men, women, coed, family, and corporate. This event is limited to 700 entries and typically fills three weeks prior to race day. Early registration is strongly encouraged. Luau Pool Party at Roeland Park Aquatic Center

Aloha! Bring your kids and grandkids for an afternoon luau at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center. Everyone will enjoy lunch, games and the chance for prizes at this day in the sun. The Great American Family Campout at Shawnee Mission Park

What could be better than a overnight family campout in JCPRD's Shawnee Mission Park? Whether you are an experienced camper or just looking for an activity to share with your family, this is your opportunity to sleep under the stars in the safety of the largest park in Johnson County. In addition to spending a night under the stars in Shawnee Mission Park, you will receive passes for admittance to Shawnee Mission Park Beach and pedal boat rental, and receive tickets to The Theatre in the Park’s production of Disney's The Wizard of Oz. As a special bonus, you will receive early admittance to the show, as well as the opportunity to attend a meet-and-greet with some of the cast in the show. Campers will need to bring their own camping equipment (tents, sleeping bags, etc.). Saturday evening dinner is not provided. Community grills are available at Shelter 2. Donuts, juice, and milk will be provided Sunday morning. Early registration is recommended, space is limited. Register by phone or walk-in. Munchkin Muffin Morning Sing Along at The Theatre in the Park

Munchkins from the Merry Old Land of Oz will be taking over the stage at The Theatre in the Park on Saturday morning and you’re invited to join in the fun! We’ll be singing songs from the family classic “The Wizard of Oz,” dancing along the yellow brick road. We’ll enjoy mini muffins and lemon drop lemonade as a special treat and parents will have lots of opportunities to take pictures. Pre-registration and a fee of $6 per child is required and space on stage is limited, so please sign up early.

1st Annual Cars in the Park Car Show

Shine your car, truck, hot rod or motorcycle because it is time to show it off at JCPRD's Cars Park Car Show! Arrive in style at Theatre in the Park. This is an all ages’ event. Entertainment includes music and dance as well as the activities in Kid’s Alley and the model car contest. There will be plenty of concessions not to mention amazing door prizes and the 50/50 pot. All car show/model car participants must be registered and on-site by noon to be judged. Awards will be given out promptly at 3 pm. Following the awards ceremony at 4 pm, we will conclude the show by taking a cruise through beautiful Shawnee Mission Park. This is a rain or shine event! Pre-registration will be accepted up to August 1. After August 1, registration will be accepted up to and on the day of the show. Olathe Medical Center Women’s Triathlon at Kill Creek

The 2nd annual Olathe Medical Center Women’s Triathlon and Expo at Kill Creek Park is sure to be another great event. The race will consist of a .31 mile (500 meter) swim, followed by a 10.6 mile bike and a 2.6 mile run. Teams can consist of two or three person teams in these categories, family, friends, corporate, and club. This event is limited to 350 participants so early registration is strongly encouraged. The 14th Annual Kids Klassic Event at Heritage Park

The 14th Annual Kids’ Klassic consists of a 5k (3.1 mile) Run/Walk, a 2 mile-Run/Walk, and a ½-mile fun run/walk. This event is open to kids of all ages, and grown-ups, too! Participants can run or walk with their child, a friend’s child or a neighbor's child! This event is open to kids of all ages, and grown-ups, too! Early registration is advised. This entire event will take place within beautiful Heritage Park. The Kids Klassic is a benefit event for the Jordan Lee Brooks Scholarship Fund. Brooks was a student at Briarwood Elementary School who suffered from asthma and finally succumbed to the disease in the summer of 1998 at the age of nine.
