How to Read a Class Listing?
Adventure: An Evening on the Prairie (Ages 10 & Older Accompanied by Parent/Guardian)
Listen to the nocturnal creatures at TimberRidge Adventure Center. Canoe across the pond to a chorus of frogs and silently stalk hooting owls along the edge of the prairie. Hear the coyotes howl. Enjoy hot cider as we tell stories by the campfire. Weather permitting, view the stars and watch for meteors in a dark prairie sky. Bring binoculars, flashlight, and dress for the weather. Not recommended for younger children due to rough trails and darkness.

Adventure: Introduction to Tree Climbing (Ages 8&Older, under 18 must have Parent/Guardian on site
Do you have fond childhood memories of climbing trees or want your child to have the same experiences? This is your chance to reach new heights by learning how to ascend and descend trees wearing comfortable climbing harnesses and helmets. All equipment is provided and all knots are tied by staff. Participants should wear long pants and closed toed and heeled shoes. Participants are required to complete medical and liability releases prior to climbing. Horseback Riding: Private Instruction-Hunter/Jumper Lessons (All Ages)
Building a strong relationship between horse and rider based on safety, knowledge, understanding and trust is the goal of private or group beginning, intermediate and advanced lessons being offered at the Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s White Fox Manor Stables. This facility is located on the southwest side of Heritage Park in Olathe, With large indoor and outdoor arenas, White Fox Manor Stables is a perfect year-round setting for riders to learn and grow. School horses are friendly and well-trained, or students may bring their own horse for an additional haul-in fee of $15 per session. Students will also learn about basic grooming and will be eligible to participate in periodic shows at the facility. Participants should wear jeans and low-heeled shoes. Do you like to hike cross-country but fear losing your way? This beginner’s workshop introduces you to orienteering, a fun way of learning the basic skills for using a topographic map and a magnetic compass. Meet an amphibian, bird, and mammal in this 45-minute presentation. Learn about these animals and discover their inter-relationship with the food chain.
