JCPRD Aquatics offers a wide variety of water safety classes for all ages and skill levels. Programs are scheduled year round at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center and summer lessons are offered at the RPAC and the Prairie Village Pool.

Making Waves, JCPRD’s new progressive aquatic lesson program, offers a progression of lessons which can take a swimmer from basic level skills to pre-swim team skills.

At the beginning of each session students will be assessed to determine their appropriate level. Students will have a chance to test to another level each day and move forward at their own pace. At the end of each session, students will receive a certificate to show their progress. Class offerings include:

• Parent & Child (Ages 6 mos - 3 yrs with parent and instructor support)
• Preschool (Ages 3-4)
• Minnows (Introductory / Beginning with assistance)
• Sea Horses (Intermediate with minimal assistance)
• Sea Turtles (Intermediate / Advanced)
• Dolphins (Advanced)
• Sharks (Pre-competitive)

Youth
programs not only include our Making Waves classes but also competitive swimming. The competitive program features nationally acclaimed coaching and is designed to prepare swimmers for all levels of competition including high school and summer leagues.

Adult programs include a series of Professional Courses for Lifeguard and Instructor training and certification. Making Waves classes are also available for adults and teens who would like to improve their water abilities.

50 Plus classes provide active seniors a healthy assortment of water exercise programs. Adults of all ages are welcome to take advantage of the flexibility, strength and cardio benefits these classes offer.
